八音静境 — Bā Yīn Jìng Jìng — Eight Sounds of Stillness
A contemplative instrumental journey inspired by ancient China, at the close of the Eastern Zhou dynasty and during the Warring States period.
Through twenty-one compositions, this album evokes silent gardens, mist-wrapped mountains, ancient courts, slow rivers, and the distant resonances of ritual instruments. The sounds of the se, the ancient qin, the sheng, the xun, the paixiao, ancient flutes, bianzhong bells, and stone chimes interweave in sober, spacious, and delicate arrangements.
Designed for relaxation, reading, meditation, and deep focus, the album favors slow tempos, soothing repetitive motifs, expressive silences, and a deliberately light musical density. Tuned to 432 Hz, it offers a stable and immersive atmosphere, free of voices or invasive modern effects.
This is not a strict archaeological reconstruction, but a respectful evocation of the musical and philosophical aesthetic of ancient China — a music in which each note appears, resonates, and then returns to silence.
